Harmonic, Inc. has an opening for Software Development Engineer at its White Plains, New York office.

Job Duties: Research, design and develop new technology for compression, processing and transmission of digital multimedia, specifically developing algorithms for video preprocessing and video compression to improve company’s line of MPEG-2 and H.264 video encoding products. Simulate new technology using C/C++ software and/or Matlab, and evaluate results. Implement new algorithms and technology into current video encoding/streaming products. Write microcode in C and/or assembly for real-time special purpose digital video processors. Oversee transition of research results into development through documentation, discussion, presentation and creation of reference software, and test plans. May be assigned to various software engineering projects that utilize skills

Job Requirements: Master’s degree in CS, EE or related technical field
Education or experience background must include: 1) C/C++ programming languages; 2) MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 (H.264) video compression standards; 3) video compression algorithms; 4) video quality evaluation; and 5) computer simulation.
