Harmonic is looking for a versatile, energetic engineer interested in developing into a well rounded hardware design engineer while helping to drive the design and development of world class video and audio compression systems.

Job Description:
- Work with a team of talented engineers on the design and test of FGPAs and printed circuit boards targeted towards video and audio compression systems.
- Primary responsibility will be to design, simulate, synthesize, test, and integrate new FPGA features into current video compression products.
- Responsibilities will also include occasional circuit board design and test.
- Hold design reviews, create HW specification and Programmer’s model.
- Circuit board design, layout and verification.
- Support fab and assembly
- Support EMC and safety certification, as required.
- Work with SW team to create board diagnostics and bring up new compression designs
- Help troubleshoot and solve FPGA, circuit board, and embedded system problems

REQUIREMENTS
- Well rounded engineering knowledge including FPGA design and simulation and embedded system board designs
- Solid understanding of all aspects of FPGA and board design processes
- Hands on experience with Altera and Xilinx FPGA design tools.
- Strong Verilog 2001 programming skills
- Solid synchronous FPGA design skills
- Recent FPGA simulation experience (Modelsim preferred)
- Solid understanding of embedded system and digital signal processing
- Familiar with schematic capture tools such as EPD/Viewlogic and Orcad.
- Good understanding of high speed, multilayer circuit boards design.
- Good lab and debugging skills, including experience with high speed digital scopes and logic analyzers.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Quick learner, energetic, resourceful, innovative, and hard working individual interested in working in a team environment.
- BS in Electrical Engineering

Desired:
- High Definition or Standard Definition digital video design experience
- Recent design experience programming in SystemVerilog
- Master of Science in Electrical Engineering

- 5+ years of recent experience in FPGA designs and programming in Verilog
- 5+ years of recent experience in multilayer board designs
