JOB PURPOSE:
• Primary role is to support the Product Marketing team with new product introduction, new technology introduction and new system integration efforts for key customer engagements and strategic product or solution initiatives in the Digital Video Processing area.
Develop and drive new product introduction strategies in the following areas:
• Broadcast Linear Compression
• Advanced Transcoding and Re-encoding
• 3D Video solution for Contribution and Broadcast delivery.
• Build end-to-end systems around beta technologies, products / prototypes.
• Develop and drive new product introduction strategies
• Drive interoperability program with key ecosystem partners and industry players (Microsoft, Broadcom, ST, Sigma Design, Cisco/SA, Ericsson, Motorola etc). Act as primary POC between product marketing, engineering, business development, sales and support to effectively manage key and strategic customer interoperability programs.
• Contribute to technical RFI/RFP responses. Interface with sales, Customer Support and Engineering for key post-sales issues.
• Configure and test the new products and systems in house to enable demonstrations and trials in customers’ system environments. Prepare key customer demonstrations.
• Manage cross-functional internal stakeholders in field support, pre-sales, sales, marketing, engineering and business development to drive day-to-day NPI activities.
• Own and drive internal Video Quality assessment program (internal benchmark, internal training, affiliate training).
• Research, assess and benchmark video/audio processing home-grown or 3rd party technologies performances and production readiness in coordination with Harmonic’s Advanced Development Engineering group, Algorithm Research group and Advanced System Engineering group.
• Represent Harmonic’s interests in key standard bodies activities (DVB, SMPTE, SCTE, CableLabs etc)
• Aggregate product requirements and assign priorities based on strategic and tactical objectives. Help drive product roadmap and release schedule for Harmonic’s Video/Audio Compression and Stream processing products.
• Contribute to the writing of product requirements and competitive analysis
• Pro-actively initiate and drive internal processes to streamline and guarantee product success
• Develop marketing collateral and sales tools
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Skill sets for this position should include, but are not limited to the following:
• Proven track record of engineering and research activities for hardware of software based products with a digital video processing technology focus, preferably in the following areas
• MPEG2 and AVC compression
• 3D TV compression and delivery technologies such MVC and SVC
• Emerging video codec such as H.265
• Proven track record of engagement in standards related activities pertaining to the digital video industry (DVB, ATSC, SMPTE, SCTE …)
• Highly proficient in subjective assessment of video and audio quality impairments and artifacts.
• Ability to define and drive technology innovations and set long term strategic direction from proof of concept to product definition and implementation
• Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills, able to communicate on an ongoing basis and flawlessly with multiple parties, geographically collocated or distributed.
• Management skills and experience in handling a complete, compound product line life cycle
• Proactive in identifying customer & product needs
• Ability to analyze complex problems and propose solutions
• Ability to lead and participate on a team to execute product initiatives
• Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• 5 to 10 years of engineering or research experience in Digital Video Processing technologies including but not limited to Video/Audio compression, statistical multiplexing, multiplexing, scrambling, MPEG over IP, PayTV and Conditional access systems.
• 3 to 5 years of life cycle product management experience in the Video, broadcast or telecom technology
• MS in Electronics Engineering required, Telecommunications Engineering, Signal Processing, or equivalent.
•May require up to 25% travel
